Happy birthday! Mine is tomorrow. I love the way you write about the men in your life because it's exactly the way I feel about the ones in my own life.
Glad for you that you had a happy day. Sad that you know you want to love and be loved, yet can’t quite accept the life compromises of loving just one man, so good yet so inevitably imperfect.
You write so well, with heart, with heartbreak.
But such an aware person as you must choose to be in love, with a commitment to an imperfect lover, and … you choose not yet. I suspect you’ll become a childless cat lady in 10, 20 years, but hope to be wrong. You only deserve better if you’re willing to be realistic and choose better.
Probably a mark of being old when one reads this and thinks, “sounds fun but I’d fall asleep before managing to see more than the very start of it”. Enjoy your youth and late nights!
30s is the best decade for many people. You still have the energy and idealism of youth, combined with a more grounded focus of middle age. Many people come into their stride in their 30s. And people often look their best in that decade too, finally figuring out the grooming routines and colors and clothing styles that work best for them.

Compassion is telling people the truth, even if they don't want to hear it. Stella is obviously has doubts and is in a dark place.
Feeding delusions could ruin her life.
I misread at first: Bad girls don’t cry.

Great writing style, as usual. Welcome to your 30s!
Sounds to me like you are on exactly the right path for you, as mysterious as it's future destination may seem. Happy Birthday!
What a fabulous birthday!
May you have many, many more, surrounded by the adoring friends you deserve.
Ignore men and they will show up when you need them to
verypleasant read and appetising food spread!
This reminded me a bit of the famous bit of Lean In with the dating advice, the only part most men have read.
